Hi geeks

Here's a quick summary....

Proposal:

- The General Meeting should ask staff to discuss closing arrangements
at long weekends and consider closing on Saturdays rather than Tuesdays

Reasons:

- the majority of people work Monday to Friday
- many people go away when there is a long weekend or change their
normal activities

- FreeGeek is normally open Tuesday to Saturday
- it has traditionally closed on a Tuesday when there is a long weekend

- staff with partners/families usually only have one day at the weekend
to do anything together
- having a day off on a Tuesday is not that useful to staff with
partners/families that are back at work or school
- closing on Saturdays would give staff with partners/families three
days in which to do something together

- having to work on Saturdays might put off many people from applying to
work at FreeGeek
- having occasional three-day weekends at the same time as
partners/families might mitigate this effect

Options:

- leave things as they are
- shut on the Saturday but open as normal on the Tuesday
- just have receiving/store open on the Saturday and open as normal on
the Tuesday
- open normally on Saturday and Tuesday but with half the staff on each
day as activity is lower
- something else?

Conclusion:

- staff are the best placed to consider different options and
practicalities of changing long weekend closures, and the General
Meeting should ask them to make any arrangements they decide would be best.
