The Aimee and David Story

The old man drifts off into sleep. We look at each other, and wonder what his words meant. All this time, we haven't really noticed the fact that we are no longer in a "real" world. We are too happy to be inside this adventure, and know now that we must find out why this girl, or the meeting was so important. We leave the house in a search for the answer. Upon exiting the house we see that it is a rather an elaborate one. There is a woman outside and we ask her if she knows anything about the bed ridden old man with in. She says very little, but tells us that the cat knows more....

cat

we follow the cat as it trots around to the back of the house. it has little brass bells around its neck and they jingle along ahead of us. it seems to be going somewhere with purpose and occasionally glances back as if to be sure that we are following. the cat slips under a barbed-wire fence into a grassy field, and you and i have to help eachother pass through the wire without getting ourselves snagged. when we are through, the cat is far ahead of us- just a dark spot moving quickly through the grass. a fog is developing and we begin running up through the grassy terrain to keep from losing the cat's trail altogether. but still, as the fog thickens, we find that we can no longer see the cat. we only hear the jingling off in the distance- and so we proceed, hand in hand, carefully through the thick white air, following the sound of the bells. then suddenly, the jingling seems to be just in front of us and as we step forward, the figure of a man emerges from the fog.......

fog

....as the man emerges from the fog, we realise that in chasing the cat we have no idea where we are or if we trodden on some sort of private property. The man doesn't look upset, and before we can say anything he says "Can I help you?" . You ask if he had seen a cat or heard it's little bell go by. As you ask him we both notice his necklace has a small bell on it. Apparently ignoring our question he says "how is the old man doing?" . "We are not sure, he said something about a girl and fell asleep. Who is he, and what was he talking about?" you respond. The "cat man" goes on to tell us that the man in the bed is actually a trapped spirit. He needs the girl to come and see him so he can apologise to her, and be set free. The girl is in a different city, and the only way to get there is by train. He takes my hand and reaches it out in the thick fog till it comes to a wire fence. He tells us to follow the fence he just repaired and it will take us to the train station. I turn to ask him where we are, but before I can, all we hear is the jingle of the cat bell fading in the distance. You hold my free hand tightly and we make our way through the fog till we see the station....
